Safety Tips

Buy and sell with confidence

Fair Deals connects buyers and sellers locally. We do not hold money or guarantee transactions — staying safe is a shared responsibility. Follow these tips on every deal.

Meet safely

  • Meet in a busy public place — a mall, café, or well-lit market — never at a secluded spot or a stranger’s home for the first exchange.
  • Prefer daytime meetings. For higher-value items, bring a friend or family member.
  • Tell someone where you’re going and when you expect to be back.
  • Trust your instincts: if the other person pressures you to change the place last-minute or meet alone in private, walk away.

Pay and receive safely

  • Inspect and test the item before you pay. Don’t hand over money until you’re happy with what you’re buying.
  • Never send an advance, deposit, or shipping fee to someone you haven’t met — especially for “too good to be true” prices.
  • For local deals, prefer cash or a payment method you can verify in your own banking app before handing over the item.
  • Beware of fake payment screenshots, QR codes from the other party, overpayment “refund” tricks, and any escrow or buyer-protection link they send you. Fair Deals does not run escrow.
  • Sellers: confirm funds in your own account before releasing the item. Don’t accept partial payment as “enough for now.”

Spot common scams

  • Prices far below market value, urgent “pay now or lose it” pressure, and refusal to meet in person are classic red flags.
  • Keep conversations on Fair Deals when you can. Be cautious if someone pushes you quickly to WhatsApp, email, or unknown websites.
  • Ignore requests for gift cards, wire transfers, crypto, or “agent/company” accounts you can’t verify.
  • If a buyer or seller asks for sensitive codes (OTP, IMEI unlock details you don’t need to share, bank passwords), stop immediately.

Protect your information

  • Share only what’s needed to complete the deal — don’t send CNIC copies, full bank statements, or home address until you trust the meetup plan.
  • Use a strong password on your Fair Deals account and don’t reuse it elsewhere.
  • Describe items honestly (including defects). Clear listings reduce disputes and keep deals smoother for everyone.

If something feels wrong

  • Cancel the meeting and leave. Your safety matters more than any deal.
  • Report the listing or user through Fair Deals Contact Us, and contact local authorities if you believe a crime occurred.
  • Never feel obliged to continue a deal that makes you uncomfortable.
